Resumen

El desarrollo del libro de bolsillo tiene como objetivo ampliar los horizontes de la lectura de obras en sistema braille. Al disponerse de un formato sustancialmente menor que los usuales, se ofrece al lector que utiliza el braille como medio de acceso a la lectura la oportunidad de tener a mano un volumen más cómodo de transportar, más versátil, encajable incluso en un bolso de tamaño medio. Lógicamente, este formato está pensado más bien para obras muy breves, o bien para aquellas que, aun siendo un poco más voluminosas, estén formadas por textos independientes entre sí, lo que supone que en esta colección el proceso previo de selección adquiera gran importancia. Esperamos con este formato aligerado ampliar significativamente el abanico de usuarios habituales, nunca sustituir el uso de otros formatos, sino ser una alternativa añadida al contenido cultural actual. Un nuevo formato siempre significa más variedad donde elegir. Estamos convencidos de que tener más posibilidad de elección redundará en un mayor uso y disfrute de la lectura en braille.

Abstract

The development of the pocketbook aims to broaden the horizons of reading works in Braille. The availability of a substantially smaller format than usual provides readers that use Braille as a means of access to reading with the opportunity to have at hand a volume that is more convenient to carry, more versatile, and which even fits in a medium-sized handbag. Logically, this format is intended more for very short works or for those which, although a little longer, are made up of texts that are independent of each other, which means that in this collection the prior selection process is very important. With this lighter format we hope to significantly expand the range of regular users, without ever replacing other formats but by making it an additional alternative to the current cultural content. A new format always means more variety to choose from. We are convinced that more choice will lead to greater use and enjoyment of Braille reading.
